Volunteers Needed!
Dobbs Ferry Fire Department is constantly in search of new members.
This is great way to support the Volunteer system and support your Community.
This department relies solely on dedicated people who are willing to volunteer
their time and their talents. If you ever thought about becoming a firefighter,
now is your chance to make it happen. We are looking for people from a wide age range
and background. NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE IS NEEDED! The Department will provide all of the
training and equipment necessary at no expense to you. You only need to provide the desire
and commitment.
Why Volunteer?
What's in it for you? Each member has their own reasons for joining. For some, it's the satisfaction
of knowing that you have donated time and effort to being a part of the community. Perhaps, it's
knowing that you may one day be able to save a life and knowing that you have the skills,
knowledge and experience to help you excel in any endeavor in your life. For others, it's a bonding
activity that is shared between parents and their sons/daughters (yes, Junior Firefighters - ages
14-17). Volunteering in the fire department is a unique experience that can be as rewarding and
educational as you choose to make it.
Requirements
Members are expected to participate on a regular basis within the limits of their personal schedules.
Each member must meet monthly meeting and drill requirements, as well as participate in scheduled events
Getting started with the Dobbs Ferry fire Department ...
To participate you should:
- Be at least 18 years of age (14-17 for Junior Firefighter).
- No experience required for new members.
- Complete application that includes Physical exam along with an Arson background check.
- Completion of basic orientation training.
- Completion of New York State Firefighter I Course. (All training provided free of charge)
